iTouchless smart motion activated garbage can reviewDealing with the garbage is always a chore no one wants. And while we are still waiting for the invention of robots that can take out the trash for you, technology is making some improvements around how we manage waste in our homes. Case in point; the iTouchless automatic garbage can. This item is hugely popular, and has a lot of positive reviews. I recently picked one up off Amazon to show you what you’re getting with this device, and to see what all the hype is about, and see if it’s actually worth it.

Review: iTouchless smart motion activated garbage can

The iTouchless smart motion sensing trashcan makes some improvements to a basic bin. This garbage can is 100% touchless. That means just the motion of your hand will open the lid automatically. In a world where we are now conscious about touching surfaces and transmission of germs more than ever, this hands-free operation is definitely convenient but it’s also very hygienic.

This trashcan is powered by 4D size batteries, which are not included so make sure to add a pack to your order. This means you get power but you don’t need to find space to plug it in. So if you want to, you can purchase an optional AC adaptor separately. iTouchless says with average use, one set of batteries will probably last up to a year and a half. Watch it in action in my video review!

Set up is pretty straightforward. Unpack it and install the batteries. Insert a trash bag by using the bag holder which helps keep it into place and from sliding down inside the can. As a bonus, the bag is not visible from the outside which means it looks a little less messy.

The can’s sensor is well-placed. A simple wave of your hand near the lid will open it up. The lid will stay open for about five or six seconds before closing on its own automatically. During lid closing, the motion sensor will automatically reopen the lid if it senses you’ve moved your hand back in.

We used to have a dog that was very smart and learned rather quickly that by approaching the can and putting her nose near the sensor, she could open the lid and feast on anything inside. Convenient than this can has a physical lock that overrides the motion sensing. You can lock the lid if you’re heading out and you don’t want your little critters to do any exploring.

The iTouchlesss smart trash can is available in a bunch of different configurations and sizes so you can find a version that should easily fit your space. With fingerprint proof stainless steel it’s easy to clean if needed, and resists smudging.

I can definitely recommend it for your home.
