sip by swell water bottles travel review

If you’re using a basic water bottle to stay hydrated or you haven’t bought a bottle since Clean Canteen was big, take note. Water bottles are getting better and better at keeping your beverages at temperature and they look cooler than ever. Case in point, the Sip by Swell water bottles that have recently hit the market.

I was able to get hands on with two new styles; a thermos-style cylinder dubbed the Travel Mug and a triangular shaped Water Bottle. They come in fun colours and patterns so your bottle will stand out from the crowd. They’re also double wall insulated so they have the ability to stay cold or hot for hours.

S’ip by S’well Travel Mug review

I started taking my coffee in the 16 oz Travel Mug with locking lid. With its sleek design, soft colour and strong construction, it keeps my coffee hot until I get time to drink it at work; usually an hour and a half after I fill it. The coffee stays pretty warm inside too until it’s done; often about 3 hours after filling.

I took some temperature readings with the mug:
I filled the mug with 174 F coffee at 4:10am (yes, I get up early!). By 5:25am the temperature had dropped but was still a piping hot 156F. Then by about 6:30am it had dropped to 140F. Still very warm, but perfectly drinkable.

The lid screws on tightly and seals well; I’ve had no spills. Plus the sip top also locks securely closed so, again, nothing seeps out.

Water Bottle: S’ip by S’well

The 15oz Water Bottle is similarly well made. With a wide base and narrow top, it’s easy to sip from, but stays steady on most surfaces. Filled with chilled water, it stays at temperature for hours, protected from the heat or room temperatures.

Again, I took temperature readings. I filled the bottle with ice water, and took note of the temperature; 48F. I left it sitting in the house, and didn’t open it again. Over 8 hours later, the water was still quite cold, the temperature reading 53F.

Overall review of S’ip by S’well water bottles & travel mug

Overall I think these bottles are really good at insulating your drink, whatever it is and whether you want it to stay warm or cold.

The new designs and colour palette is attractive and entertaining. These bottles are versatile, stylish and can keep your drinks hot or cold all day. Bottles are made of BPA-free, double-walled, insulated 18/8 stainless steel, and it’s important to note these are hand wash only.

S’ip by S’well bottles sell for about $20USD/$32CAD for the water bottle and $24USD/$32CAD for the travel mug from Amazon.
