Withings Body Smart Scale reviewWeight can be a tricky thing. Keeping tabs on it might make you more motivated to stay active and fit, but at the same time putting on a couple of pounds can lead you into a downward spiral of ‘why do I bother?’. What if I told you a new scale I’m reviewing gives you the option of taking your body measurements but keeping it secret until you really want or need to know? That’s just one of the interesting features of the Withings Body Smart scale. In this review I’ll share my personal experience and time spent hands-on with this scale, show you what you’re getting with this scale, what it can measure and what makes it unique. I’ve also had huge challenges setting these scales up in the past, so I’ll let you know if anything has improved after my last disastrous experience. I’ll wrap things up with the pros and the cons and let you know if I think I can recommend this smart scale to you.

Withings Body Smart Scale hands-on review

Withings Body Smart Scale
4

Summary

I had a much better experience with this Withings scale than I’ve had with the company;s previous models. While I will want to spend some additional time with this scale to be sure, I am heartened to find things seem to be a little easier for users.

Pros

  • Sleek design
  • Feels solid & well made
  • Seems accurate
  • Colour screen
  • Adjustable on-screen display
  • Seamless app integration (don’t need to have app open to sync)
  • Can add weight manually

Cons

  • User interface can be glitchy
  • Initial weigh-ins need to be manually assigned

Withings Body Smart scale: What you get/What’s in the box

When you unpack the box you’re really only getting one thing; that’s your Withings Body Smart scale. Fortunately the batteries are included, you’ll need to remove a small battery protector from underneath the battery compartment lid and once you do you should be ready to get set up.

See my hands-on personal experience with Withings Body Smart

Set up & First Use

I delayed the set up of my scale for as long as humanly possible because I was dreading it. Previous experiences with Withings products have resulted in literal hours long set up experiences and calls to customer service for help when things didn’t work correctly. I am both thrilled and flabbergasted to report that with this scale I was able to follow the in app sequence and had it connected to my phone in less than five minutes.

I did have one small glitch where once I entered my Wi-Fi network information I got an error message, but I simply clicked the try again button and it went through the second time. This is much easier than what happened to me in the previous reviews.

Then it was time to take the first measurement.

First measurement

Withings Body Smart Scale reviewThe first time I measured myself I went to check it in the app, but I could not find any measurements under the “latest measurements tab.

Fortunately I’ve been here before so I knew what to do, but I still think this is a sad user experience that Withings could further streamline.

What you’ll need to do to begin recording your weight, is go into the small square scale icon in the top right corner of the app, known as ‘My Devices’.

Withings Body Smart Scale reviewWithings Body Smart Scale reviewNext tap Unknown Measurements. In here you will likely see the measurement you just took. You’ll need to assign this measurement to yourself as a user. So, select the measurement and then assign it to yourself, then in Latest Measurements, you should see that number.

Essentially you have to tell the scale who you are and what your weight is off the top so that it knows where to assign future weigh ins. I think this is tedious and extra steps, and is absolutely not how most other smart scales work.

Withings says that after a few measurements the scale should recognize you and begin assigning those measurements to your profile.

If you see a small person icon on the scale with an X through it it means your measurements are not being assigned to you.

I decided to take multiple measurements all in one day to try to hurry this setting along. But it didn’t seem to have much effect until after about the sixth time… after that the unknown measurements tab seemed to vanish from my app and the measurements looked like they were being recorded automatically. I also got confirmation on screen with my name, so bottom line here is if it doesn’t appear that your measurements are getting tracked in the app, monitor that unknown measurements section and weigh yourself a handful of times. That should do it.

Data & what it tracks

Withings Body Smart Scale reviewAs one of the entry-level smart scales on Withings’ lineup, the Body Smart covers the basics you’d expect and a bit more. First off, it measures your weight, but it doesn’t stop there. It also dives into your body composition.

It can measure your visceral fat index—yeah, that’s the fat lurking around your organs. While it may not show on the mirror, it’s still crucial to keep an eye on this data as a high visceral fat index could indicate higher chances of cardiovascular diseases. It will also check your water mass.

Then, there’s your BMI (Body Mass Index) which is a simple yet effective way to gauge potential disease risk. It’s a built-in formula that takes your height, weight, and waist circumference in consideration which are all accessible through your app and from the sensors on the Body Smart scale.

It also shows you an approximation of your basal metabolic rate or the rate of calorie burn you get at rest.

The scale will also give you your heart rate. The first couple of times I took a measurement I just got a heart rate error message on the scale and nothing showed up in the app. But after about the third time it started to display my data.

Again this just illustrates to me that the Withings scale is a bit glitchy. But in all honesty these glitches, while frustrating for myself and other users, I bet, seem to resolve themselves this time which was a huge relief.

How Withings Scale works

The Withings Body Smart scale, like most smart scales, utilizes bioelectrical impedance analysis (BIA). It’s a widely used method for estimating body composition which operates on the principle that body fat causes greater resistance or impedance than lean body tissues when an electrical current is passed through it.
When you step on a Body Smart scale, it sends a weak electrical current through your body, while measuring its rate. It hits resistance (impedance) which primarily occurs when it hits areas of your body with fat concentration as these are typically more resistant than lean muscle mass. This system is what allows the Body Smart scale to measure your body fat percentage and visceral fat index.

Number of users

Withings Body Smart scale can keep track of up to eight users. This feature is incredibly useful for families or households where multiple people are keen on monitoring their health and fitness progress. Each user’s data is kept private and separate from others, ensuring personal metrics are only accessible to the individual to whom they belong.

Customize display

You also have the option to customize what shows up on the scales own screen. There is a tab in the my devices section which will allow you to choose what gets displayed you can just get your weight, or check in on your BMI, muscle or fat ratings, even your heart rate and get the weather too.

Battery Life and Power

The Body Smart scale takes four AAA batteries that come pre-installed. You just have to pull a plastic cover on the connections and it’ll be ready to take your weight measurements immediately. These should take about 15 months before they need replacing, depending on the frequency of use. Since I’ve only had the scale for a few weeks, I won’t be able to make a judgement about the battery life just yet.

Other modes/features

Eyes-closed mode

Withings recognizes that getting on the scale can induce anxiety so they’ve implemented what the company calls Eyes-closed Mode. When this mode is enabled, instead of displaying your weight on the scale screen, all chosen measurements are recorded and tracked within the app, allowing you to check them later. This helps in keeping people focused on their weight loss progress and not the natural day-to-day fluctuations. Instead of your weight, the Body Smart will display motivational messages to keep you engaged in your fitness journey.

Athlete mode

For people who maintain an active lifestyle or professional athletes, body composition numbers and resting heart rate numbers may be a little off compared to people with less active routines. To keep readings more accurate, Withings has set up Athlete mode, which uses a different algorithm for measuring resting heart rate and body fat composition to attenuate for different lifestyles.

Baby mode

You can also use the Body Smart scale to track your baby’s weight changes across his or her growth. To weigh your baby, you first need to weigh yourself. After your weight is displayed on the scale’s screen, you then hold your baby and step back on the scale. The scale is smart enough to calculate your baby’s weight by subtracting your weight from the combined weight. You can track the progression by adding your baby’s profile to one of the eight user profiles available in the app.

Pregnancy mode

With pregnancy mode, mothers-to-be can track their weight change throughout pregnancy. The app then shares some helpful tips depending on your progress and where you are in your pregnancy.

Overall review: Withings Body Smart scale

Overall I’m relieved to say I had a much better experience this time around. While I will want to spend some additional time with this scale to be sure, I am heartened to find things seem to be a little easier for users. Let’s go over the pros and cons. On the pro side, the scale’s design is sleek and modern, it feels durable—not like you’re going to crush some glass, and the weight seems accurate for me personally. The colour display screen which I can customize to show whichever metrics I’m most interested in looks nice and makes the experience more personal.

The scale automatically feeds data to the Withings app even if you don’t have it nearby or open on your phone. You also have the option of adding manual weights if you need to weigh in somewhere else and just want to keep things recorded in the Withings app. The scale also tracks some solid and useable data and it integrates with other health apps you might want as well.

When it comes to the downsides, I did find the scale still a touch glitchy, but nowhere near the disastrous experiences I have had with previous Withings scales. I feel like the company is doing its best to refine the user experience and make a better and more user-friendly product. I also don’t like the way you need to manually assign the first half-dozen weigh ins, and that the app doesn’t walk you though how to do this.

In short, I can recommend the Withings Body Smart scale to you if you are looking to keep better tabs on your health. This model sells for about $99USD / $149CAD and you can get it from places like Amazon or Best Buy. If this smart scale is out of your budget, I reviewed a $20 smart scale recently that absolutely blew me away. You can check that out here.

PMD makes a couple options; here we test out two of the most popular.

The post PMD Clean vs PMD Pro Gemstone: Facial Cleansing Brushes Review & Comparison appeared first on TechGadgetsCanada.com.

]]>
PMD Clean, PMD Clean Pro, gemstone, on colourful background.

Vibrating facial cleansing brushes seem to be popping up everywhere. So are they a gimmick, or do they actually have helpful properties? When Clairsonic announced they were dropping out of the cleansing brush game, that left a few options. One of them is PMD Beauty’s brushes. In this review, I’ll look at PMD Clean and PMD Clean Pro Gemstone. What do these brushes promise, how well do they work, and what’s the difference between them? We’ll tackle those topics and if you stick around we’ll talk price and whether I recommend them for you. And read on for a special discount code if you like what you learn.

What is PMD Clean and Clean Pro Gemstone?

In short, these are silicon face cleansing brushes that offer sonic vibrations or massage if you want to call it that, plus heating properties in the Pro version. The Gemstone version is an upgrade from the Pro which has a simple metal heated backplate. You use them with a cleanser to gently scrub away dirt and oil. Both devices have short silicone “bristles.” Silicone is easy to clean, and it is antibacterial, hypoallergenic, and odor-resistant. These waterproof bristles are made for all skin types, with both large and small bristles on the device head – so you can target different areas.- though there’s not a lot of difference in size and the configuration is not even. Unlike some other facial cleansing devices, these PMD devices do not have replaceable brush heads.

Vibration technology for cleansing

Both PMD Clean with the PMD Clean Pro Gemstone offer PMD’s “SonicGlow” technology, which is PMD’s fancy way of saying they use over 7,000 vibrations per minute to scrub your face clean. These vibrations work to break down oil and remove dirt from the skin, and says PMD, at use a frequency to help target signs of aging, potentially helping to firm and lift the skin. These vibrations are said to increase blood flow, helping to give skin that beautiful, youthful glow. Both devices also have four built in modes, which you can use to create a specialized skincare routine.

The first two modes are designed for cleansing, offering different vibration intensities; essentially low and high. You can quickly shift between modes by pressing a button, so you can even use different modes in a single cleansing session. The third and fourth modes are more of a pulsing and, claims PMD, they’re are designed for anti-aging and massaging.

PMD Clean, PMD Clean Pro, gemstone, in shower.

What’s the difference between PMD Clean and PMD Clean Pro Gemstone?

While both devices have these same modes, how they are used does differ somewhat. The third and fourth modes are intended to be used with the backside of the device, and this is a key area where the two devices differ. The PMD Clean’s backside has a series of ridges that are great for facial massages, while the PMD Clean Pro Gemstone has a gemstone plate.

The smooth gemstone side of the PMD Clean Pro Gemstone is meant for applying skincare creams – the heating element inside called “ActiveWarmth” is supposed to help products like serum or moisturizer absorb into your skin better. Here, that heat is transmitted through a slice of rose quartz crystal.

The PMD Clean does not have ActiveWarmth technology.

What’s the benefit of a gemstone face brush?

While we’re on the topic of the gemstones, let’s dig into what the benefits of a gemstone applicator may be. Many people believe crystals and gemstones have special properties and you’ll often see gemstones uses in rollers, makeup brushes and Gua Sha facial tools. Gemstones are said to enhance wellness, and have healing properties thanks to their energies of natural stones which conduct and store energy. I won’t get much deeper into the crystal thing than that, but the rose quartz is meant to have relazational and anti-inflammatory properties and it is certainly beautiful and warm or cool it does feel nice moving over my face.

Scrubbing the face with PMD Clean.More differences among PMD face brushes

Let’s take a look at some other ways these two devices differ… in Power, charging and storage. The PMD Clean is battery powered, while the PMD Clean Pro Gemstone is rechargeable. The PMD Clean Gemstone’s rechargeable battery is intended to last roughly 150 to 180 minutes per charge, which will most likely last two to three months with daily use.

The Clean Pro Gemstone is also freestanding, while the PMD Clean requires using the base if you would like to store your device upright. Both have a similar ergonomic design, but the Pro is a smidge larger.

Overall review: PMD Clean and Clean Pro Gemstone

PMD Clean, PMD Clean Pro, gemstone, differences, best, reviewOverall, these devices do help intensify your cleansing. I like using a brush to help wash up and I feel like it does a good job with the light scrubbing. I really like the handle design, and this combines with the size of the brush makes it easy to get into smaller areas. The 4 different vibration modes seem like enough.

Downsides? You do need to cycle through every vibration setting before you can turn it off, and there’s no memory of your favorite or the last one used, so it’s like a new brush every time. On the Pro, the heat is strong but it’s hard to tell how much the low level of heat is really helping my serums and creams penetrate. I also didn’t really notice a difference in the different sizes of bristles in terms of better or deeper cleansing. I also wonder about the anti ageing properties here, and with just a few days to test these brushes I certainly didn’t see any miracles… so if you’ve been using one of these longer and have seen improvements I’d love to hear from you in comments below.

Overall though, if you’re looking for a bit more from your skincare routine, I’d probably recommend the PMD Clean as your best choice. It’s a solid, simple to use facial cleansing brush that’s simple to add to your daily routine. For the big hike in price, it’s hard to prove if the PRO’s pretty crystal back and heat are really having a big impact. Fitindex Smart scale

I’ve faced crazy frustration setting up expensive smart scales… so when I decided to buy one of the cheapest smart scales I could find on Amazon, was it another regret? Meet the FitIndex Body Composition Scale, a $20-ish dollar smart scale that promises to track all the major body and health metrics, sync to your phone and pair up with big health apps including Apple and Fitbit. In this review, I’ll take you through the setup, show you what it does, look at the data that tracks, then I’ll wrap up with the pros and cons and let you know if I think this scale is a bargain, or bottom of the barrel… and I have to say I was pretty shocked at what I found here.

FitIndex Smart Scale
4.8

Summary

Great value and minimalistic design, lots of metrics, and the setup is really easy. This may be the cheapest smart scale out there, but I thin it’s one of the best.

Pros

  • Super low price
  • Set up is amazingly easy
  • Works well
  • Batteries included
  • Nice subtle design
  • Lots of data
  • Seems accurate
  • App is well designed

Cons

  • Doesn’t sync data automatically; app must be open

What you get

There’s not much to the package but there doesn’t need to be; you get the glass scale and the batteries are even included. Pop them in the back and you’re ready to set up and pair. For this you’ll need your smartphone and the free FitIndex app.

Set up and pairing

Fitindex Smart scale

I was absolutely blown away by how easy it was to get the scale set up and paired. If you’ve seen any of my other smart scale reviews, you will see that I have struggled with some big name brands that have required hours on the phone and customer service intervention to get them connected. I had this scale turned on, connected to my phone, and syncing data in under five minutes on the very first try. I have to say I am extremely impressed with the user interface and connection here.

Design

The design of this scale is simple and minimalist; aside from the metal pads it’s pretty plain. There is a small LED display at the top of the screen and that’s about it. There are small feet underneath which help keep the scale stable and balanced.

Accuracy

I’d say right out of the gate the scale seemed fairly accurate to me and put both my and husband Roger’s weights in line with previous measurements we’ve taken.

Data

Fitindex app.

Let’s take a look at what the scale will measure for you.

In addition to weight it tracks your BMI or Body Mass Index, Body Fat and other fat measurements percentage. It will measure body water, muscle and bone mass and a handful of other things too. You can also use it to record body circumference measurements too.

Only the weight will show up on the scale itself; for the rest, you do need to go to the app to view it.

While some smart scales will sync their data to your smartphone anytime you use them, with this scale you do need to have the app open for it to record a wait and information. I could complain that this adds an extra step, but for the bargain price of this scale it’s a small task.

You’ll know your data is going direct to your phone if you see a small Wi-Fi symbol on the scale. If you don’t see that symbol you’re likely not connected. Reopen or refresh the app and it should work; the small dial on the screen of the app will spin while it’s taking your measurements. Then it will save the data inside the app.

Data sharing

If you want to share your data you can easily screenshot what’s in the app to pass it on to your healthcare provider. There is there is also a share option which will provide a more detailed breakdown or comparison table and allow you to text, email, AirDrop and more.

Fitbit and Apple Health

Rather amazingly the FitIndex stick scale will sync with both Apple Health and Fitbit to migrate your data over to either of those apps if you prefer. You simply have to enable permissions in the settings section of the FitIndex app.

Overall review

Fitindex Smart scale

Overall I have to say I’m extremely impressed with what you get for the money with this scale. You’re certainly getting about 80 or 90% of the data you’d want at a fraction of the cost of other Big Brand smart scales. The scale works really well, it seems quite accurate, and the design isn’t going to offend anyone. The setup was phenomenally easy, and having the batteries included saved me another trip to the store. I think the app design and interface is attractive and easy to read and understand as well as to share with any healthcare providers.

Those are all of the pros; the only downside I can really point out is that the data doesn’t sync automatically. You must have the app open for the data transfer to happen. This is not ideal, but it’s not a major chore either, particularly at this rock-bottom price point.

The FitIndex smart scale sells for about $20USD and you can get it from Amazon.

If you want to see what happens when a smart scale goes horribly wrong, you can check out this review of a popular brand, or see my most recent experience with a Fitbit scale… Right here.

Fitbit Charge 6 review.

Fitness trackers are still a hot item, and they have been since their introduction in 2009. They’ve come a long way since then. These days, they can do so much more than just count your steps. We’re moving towards a time when fitness trackers and smart watches will be one and the same. The Fitbit Charge 6 is a big step in that direction, as it’s able to run a number of Google-based apps, while still keeping a slim profile. I’ve been wearing the Charge 6 for three weeks solid and in this hands-on review I’ll take a look at what this fitness tracker device can do, what it measures, what it’s like to wear, and how it might be beneficial to you. I’ll wrap things up by going over the pros and the cons and letting you know if I think I can recommend this Fitness band to you.

Fitbit Charge 6
5

Summary

A compact and effective fitness tracker for health and fitness. Overall this is a good, cost-effective choice.

Pros

  • Slim, compact
  • Easy-to-read screen
  • Customizable color display
  • Tracks lots of metrics as a fitness device
  • Accurate
  • Comfortable

Cons

  • Limitations with iPhone
  • Requires Google /gmail account to use

What’s New With Fitbit Charge 6?

Fitbit Charge 6

One of the biggest differences you’ll find from the Charge 5 is the introduction of Google apps to the Fitbit world. The ability to use Google Wallet, Google Maps, and YouTube music is brand new, and comes a few years after Google bought Fitbit. The Charge 6 also now adds the ability to connect to a variety of home fitness and gym equipment.

The Charge 6 also re-introduces a haptic multifunction button where the Charge 5 had none (which feels oddly placed on the left side of the tracker). The 6 also provides a wide range of colors, including coral.

Watch my full hands-on Fitbit Charge 6 review

The other newish thing about Charge 6 is Fitbit users who have existing accounts must migrate (eventually) their accounts to Google. I went through this process when I reviewed the Pixel Watch 2 and found it to be a bit clunky (complicated by the fact I had set up a second Fitbit account with a Gmail address years ago and then never used it.) With the swap in the rearview mirror, it’s fine now and I got great customer service from Fitbit to help with it. What does Fitbit Charge 6 track?

The Charge 6 works with both Apple and Android phones. It uses an app to monitor and collect data, with two levels of things it monitors; what I’ll call basic and expected stats, things like steps, sleep, activity, distance and floors climbed, as well as more advanced metrics like heart rate tracking (it will tell you if your heart rate seems too high or too low). It also tracks SP02 (blood oxygen), as well as blood glucose, skin temperature, and breathing rate, and also has a menstrual cycle tracker.

It will even track your workout all on its own.

The app has been redesigned within the last year or so and is a little less cluttered, which I quite like. The Fitbit app had gotten extremely bulky and had way too much going on in it for a while. For the most part it seems like Fitbit has returned to its simpler routes and I like the less is more approach. Even so, you can get the more is more approach by diving into some of the layers of menus and settings that do exist

Important to note is that a Fitbit device, unlike something similar like the Google Pixel Watch 2 will integrate with iPhones and send you notifications of incoming calls and texts. Though you can’t reply on the Fitbit Charge 6, you do get the alerts which can be a big help.

Is Fitbit Premium worth it?

Your Charge 6 will give you a tonne of data with just your device purchase. You can upgrade to Fitbit premium which provides guided workouts, meditation exercises, nutritional advice including recipes as well as more sleep data and stress management assistance. While I’ve had a Fitbit since they first launched their devices, I’ve never subscribed to Fitbit Premium and have not felt like I’ve been missing a thing. Premium costs about $150 per year although there are often sales and annual pay options so you can always price it out if you might be interested.

Sensors & Health Tracking

Fitbit Charge 6

The Charge 6 features GPS for tracking runs or hikes, a calorie-burn counter, and a heart rate monitor. The heart rate monitor tracks your heart rate throughout the day, giving you a good indication of variations.
Fitbit says it also has an improved tracking system that provides up to 60% more accurate tracking for high-energy activities. It can also send a notification to you if your heart rate is higher or lower than normal.

The device has a number of sensors on the back that connect or touch your wrist and can take an ECG reading of your heart rhythm or an electrodermal scan (EDA) to measure your stress levels. It also measures your breathing rate, heart rate variability, and you’re resting heart rate.

Many of these metrics will be more than the average human needs, but if you are monitoring a health condition or training for something specific, having this granular type of data can be a real help.

Screen & Size

The Charge 6 fits like a bracelet and has a 1.04-inch screen. It also features a haptic button, a cross between a physical button, and a touch screen. This allows the Fitbit Charge 6 to operate as though it has a physical button yet is less prone to you bumping or accidentally hitting the button and triggering an action by mistake. A single press takes you back to the main menu or wakes up the screen. It will pause your workout if you’re in the middle of an activity.

Fitbit recommends wearing your tracker about a finger’s width above your wrist bone. They also recommend taking it off from time to time to give your wrist a break. Additionally, Fitbit recommends removing your device in the shower, as shampoo and soap could cause damage over time.

New Lifestyle Features: Using Google Maps, Google Pay/Google Wallet, YouTube Music, HR on Equipment on Fitbit

Google bought Fitbit in 2019, so it’s no surprise that apps like Google Maps and Google Pay/Google Wallet have made their way to Fitbit fitness trackers (replacing Fitbit Pay). You can now take advantage of these previously smart-watch-only apps right on your Fitbit.

Google Maps is a no-brainer for a fitness tracker. You can plot out a course for a bike ride or run, and if you lose track of where you’re at during a run, you can quickly re-orient yourself.

Google Wallet allows you to make payments directly from your Fitbit Charge 6, which allows you to leave your wallet behind while exercising.

The downside of this comes in a limited selection of apps for things like music. The Charge 6 comes with a one-month subscription to YouTube Music, after which you’ll need to pay $11.99 CDN monthly. There are no other music options available through the Charge 6.

Using what’s called HR on Equipment in the Fitbit app you can get your fitness metrics right on screen when you pair your Fitbit with a compatible exercise machine. The Charge 6 can connect with specific Bluetooth exercise machines including iFit, NordicTrack, Concept2, Peloton bikes, and Tonal machines to track your activity. I didn’t have access to any compatible fitness equipment during my trial so I can’t speak to how common this is or how easy it works. If you have first-hand experience with this (does it work well or not?) I’d love to hear about it in the comments.

Using the Google maps integration was easy enough to set up. It takes just a couple of clicks to turn this on inside the app and then you’re ready to go. You do need to start Google Maps navigation on your phone to see it on your Fitbit device. It will track things like walking, cycling, and even driving if you want. You can easily disconnect it if you don’t enjoy this feature inside the app.

Battery Life & Charging

One of the things I really love about Fitbit, aside from its excellent accuracy, is that the company has really killed it when it comes to battery life. Fitbit has optimized a lot of its algorithms and battery usage, allowing the Charge 6 to last almost a full week on a single charge, which blows away a lot of the competition, and is days and days longer than the average smartwatch.

The device has a proprietary charging cable connecting magnetically to the band on one end and USB on the other. A full charge will take between 1 and 2 hours. You can check the battery level during charging by double-tapping the screen or pressing the button to turn it on and then swiping right to the battery screen, and battery life is always visible on the device.

Overall review

Fitbit Charge 6

Overall, there’s not a lot to complain about with the Fitbit Charge 6. Fitbit, or should I say Google, has kept all of the best features of a fitness and activity tracking band and made some improvements. Integration with many of the Google features like Google maps and Google Wallet are helpful and add to its usefulness. Other pros? I love the slim and sleek design and find it to be extremely comfortable with nothing to catch on clothing. (There are also fancier bands if you want it to look even more upscale.) The screen, though it is small and compact is quite easy to read, and the colour display with different options for watch faces means it’s infinitely customizable. (I also can’t get over how much it resembles Google Pixel Watch 2)

The Charge 6 tracks a boatload of metrics; both ones you’d be interested in every day and other ones that may be more relevant for people watching a health issue or training for something special.

When it comes to the downsides it’s really hard to find something to dislike. I think some people might be annoyed by the integration with Google, since fairly soon you will need to have a Google or Gmail account in order to use a Fitbit. But that’s supposed to make the ecosystem better not worse. Some of the other potential downsides for you could be features that it doesn’t have that you might perhaps find in a smartwatch; things like fall detection, or the ability to answer calls or reply to text messages. But if those are things you’re after, an Apple Watch or Pixel Watch 2 would be a better choice. I know some folks really dislike the haptic side button but I didn’t need it enough to develop a hate for it.

In short, I’ve been a Fitbit fan for many many years and the charge six only solidifies my feelings about it. Though I own both an Apple Watch and a Google Pixel Watch 2, the Fitbit Charge 6 has earned top billing on my wrist for now (with the more robust Watch 2 in second place followed by Apple Watch in a distant third place).

It sells for $159USD/$220CAD and you can get it from Fitbit, Amazon and most electronics shops.

Fitbit Inspire 3.

If you’re new to the world of fitness tracking, the setup steps for a Fitbit might seem a bit intimidating. Don’t worry, we’re here to walk you through how to set up a Fitbit. You’re also in the right place if you have an existing Fitbit account and need to migrate that over to a Google account (which will be mandatory very shortly). Let’s dive into it.

How to set up a New Fitbit Account

Step 1: Getting Prepared

The first thing you’ll want to do is to make sure that your phone or tablet is charged to at least 50 percent. You don’t want to run into a shutdown halfway through the task. Similarly, make sure your Fitbit device is also at least halfway charged. If either device isn’t, plug them in and charge them up.

You’ll also want to ensure your phone’s Bluetooth is turned on and you don’t have any other Fitbit devices nearby (a friend or family member’s for example) that could confuse the app.

Step 2: Download the Fitbit App

If your phone or tablet is charged, you can open the Apple or Google Play store and download the Fitbit App. If this is your first app, you’ll need to create an account. If not, you can sign in to the app with your existing account.

Step 3: Turn on your Fitbit

Wake your Fitbit device by pressing the button on the side or tapping the face, depending on which Fitbit model you’re using.

Step 4: Run the Setup Steps in the App

    • In the Fitbit app, click on your profile picture to see your account settings.
    • Click on Set Up a Device.
    • The steps essentially involved pairing your Fitbit to your phone by matching a numerical code.
    • You can easily follow the instructions within the app and have your Fitbit connected in no time.

How to migrate a Fitbit account to Google

google pixel watch

Google Pixel Watch 2.

If you have an existing Fitbit account, now might be a good time to migrate it over to a Google account. Google purchased Fitbit a few years back, and while they still support Fitbit accounts, that’s scheduled to change for good by 2025.

Why won’t my Fitbit account migrate to Google?

Note: It’s important to note that setting up a Fitbit account doesn’t create a Google account. Even if you’ve used your Gmail account to create your Fitbit account, that Fitbit account isn’t part of the Google world. You might also find that the synchronization between Google and Fitbit, particularly if you did use a Gmail account for your initial set up, isn’t 100%. When setting up the new Pixel Watch 2 with Fitbit fitness tracking we found there was a bit of trouble with the migration because an older gmail address had already been used to create a Fitbit account, even though it was not being used today. If you encounter problems for a similar reason, or the set up and migration process is not going smoothly, don’t hesitate to reach out to Fitbit customer service. Their customer care team is really helpful and assisted us with what’s called a manual migration. This process took about a week to complete, but now everything works seamlessly.

  • When you log in to your Fitbit account, you’ll likely receive a pop-up or notification recommending you migrate your account.
  • Simply follow the steps provided in that notification to migrate your account.
    • If you’re not seeing a notification, your account may not be ready to be migrated over just yet, and Google will notify you when it is.
    • Your Fitbit account won’t share data with your Google account unless you authorize it.
  • If you choose to migrate your account, you’ll have control over which info the Fitbit shares with things like Google Assistant and Google Fit. The process itself will only take a few minutes to complete.

If you’re using My Family within Fitbit, and you’re the main guardian of the Fitbit My Family group and the manager of your Google Family Group, you can begin moving the family account over. Any members over the age of 12 will need to create a Google account, and younger children will be moved over.

If you’re new to Fitbit, we hope this walk-through has helped you get set up smoothly. If you’re ready to migrate your account to Google, we hope we’ve answered any questions you might have. If you’re still stuck, Fitbit has online resources, and you can always leave us a question in the comments. You can also check out our latest Fitbit reviews like Fitbit Charge 5, Fitbit Charge 6 and more.

You can find the Fitbit Charge 5, Fitbit Charge 6, Fitbit Inspire HR, Fitbit Inspire 3, and Fitbit Versa 4 on Amazon, while the Fitbit Inspire 3 and Versa 4 are also available from Walmart.

Molekule Air Pro air purifier, review Do you have a pet in the home, and an allergy sufferer? Do you love to cook but hate lingering smells? Then this article is for you. Each spring and summer we’ve been experiencing wildfire smoke, and it always seeps into the house. It smells bad and it’s not good for you. That’s been the tipping point for us to get an air purifier. I was recently offered the opportunity to try Molekule Air Pro, and I’d like to thank Molekule for sponsoring this post. Molekule’s support helps me keep the blog and the YouTube channel running, so for that I’m grateful. While they are sponsoring this video, they haven’t told me what I have to say or what I can’t say so consider these thoughts my own.

What is Molekule Air Pro?

Molekule Air Pro is a large format purifier meant to sit on the floor in your room. With a replaceable filter inside, it can purify the air in a space up to 1000 square feet, making it great for open concept homes like mine. You control it by touching the controls on the device, or using the free Molekule app.

Molekule is a new kind of air purifier, and the company says it works differently than others by destroying a large range of pollutants in the air.

How does Molekule work?

Molekule Air Pro air purifier, review Molekule’s air purifiers use what’s called a PECO HEPA Tri-Power filter, which has three layers of protection, and I’ll walk you thorugh what that means: It combines the true HEPA filtration technology we’re all familiar with which has a 99.97% particle-capture rate, with Molekule’s PECO technology that destroys organic pollutants: Things like viruses, bacteria, mold, allergens, volatile organic compounds, chemicals, and more. The third part of the filtration technology is a final layer of carbon filtration to reduce odors and gases, so all you notice is clean, crisp air. Molekule says this makes it one of the most advanced filters on the market with the ability to destroy the widest range of pollutants compared to conventional filters.

Design and form factor

Molekule Air Pro air purifier, review I’ve reviewed plenty of air purifiers and a lot of them look very boxy and unattractive. Molekule has actually made its purifiers to blend into modern spaces. They kind of look more like wireless speakers than air purifiers.

Set up

Getting the Molekule Air Pro set up was quick and easy for me.

  • Download the Molekule app and sign up for or sign into your account.
  • Place your device on the floor, away from walls for ideal air flow.
  • Push down on the top of the purifier and twist it to open.
  • Then remove the top and you’ll see your PECO HEPA Tri-Power filter.
  • Unwrap it, and place it on the small post inside then replace the lid.
  • Plug the Air Pro in and it will come on right away.
  • Head to your app and choose which device to add. The app is easy to figure out and it will help get you connected to your home’s Wi-Fi.
  • Air Pro starts working immediately.

What is Molekule Auto Protect Mode?

If you don’t want to have to worry about monitoring your purifier and turning it up and down all the time, Auto Protect Mode is for you. Auto Protect allows you to let the machine
measure your air quality on its own, then respond to it, cycling on higher or lower power. There’s two versions of this, standard and quiet.
Auto Protect Standard: When sensors detect dirty air, higher fan speeds engage.
Auto Protect Quiet: Destroys pollutants at evening-appropriate noise levels.

Understanding your Molekule air quality readings

Molekule Air Pro air purifier, review The Air Pro sensor detects six indoor air pollutants, which you can track in the app: VOCs, Relative Humidity, CO2, and three different types of particulate matter. You’ll see four different colors on the Air Pro, and through the app, to indicate the levels of particles. Green means there’s a low level of particles in the air, yellow is moderate, red is bad, and purple means there may be a very unhealthy concentration of particles in the air. There’s no trying to analyze numbers or parts per million just a simple and easy to understand color system.

See your air over time

One of the cool things about this purifier is that will track your indoor air quality over time: You can view your indoor air readings in 5 minute increments, day after day, week after week, helping your track seasonal allergen changes in your air, or to alert you to volatile organic compounds that may end up inside when you get new furniture or carpets, for example. Not only can you see pollutant spikes, you can also see how the Air Pro reacts to destroy them.

Is Molekule Noisy?

The truth about air purifiers is that if they are noisy and make a racket, chances are, you’ll prefer them turn off. Molekule Air Pro is quiet, despite its large size and even when running on high, it wasn’t distracting to me.

Do you have to change the filter? Is it washable?

Molekule Air Pro air purifier, review The Molekule Air Pro has a replaceable filter inside. Why do you need to replace your filter?

Over time the PECO HEPA Tri-Power Filter can become full of dust and hair. This reduces the filter’s effectiveness in trapping and destroying pollutants. The Molekule app will let you know when it’s time to change it. Changing the filter every 6 months ensures that your device is running efficiently.

You can also subscribe to Molekule filters, which will save you over 45% a year, and ensures filter replacements automatically arrive at your house so you don’t have to remember to replace them.

Overall thoughts on Molekule Air Pro

If you have concerns about air quality, you’ll want to take a closer look at Molekule, and there’s a lot I like about my Air Pro.

Molekule Air Pro air purifier, review The design is sleek and modern, it’s easy to set up and use, it runs silently, and most importantly I know it’s not just cleaning and purifying the air; it’s destroying organic material that could be floating around my home. I enjoyed my Molekule experience and I can recommend the Air Pro for people looking to destroy allergens, or anyone concerned with air quality, particularly in larger spaces or your whole home.

Molekule Air Pro sells for about $1014 US. If you’re looking for something for a smaller space or if you’re on a budget, Molekule Air Mini+ sells for about $359 US.

Philips Power Flosser reviewI’ll confess: I’ve never been one for flossing. I always found it made my gums sore and was just a generally difficult and unpleasant task to have to do each day. So I am the type of person that only tends to floss the day before I go to the dentist so I can try to avoid the lectures—but they know. They always know. Recently Phillips offered me the opportunity to try out a new water flosser. Admittedly I was surprised because I thought those came and went in the 1990s. Turns out the technology is still around and there’s been some improvement. Given that my dentist is still hassling me to floss, I figured I’d give water flossing a try. In this Philips sonicare power flosser 3000 cordless review I’ll show you what you get and how it works, the special features it has, and what the overall experience is like. I’ll wrap things up with the pros and cons and tell you if I think I can recommend the Philips Cordless Power Flosser to you.

Summary

For a countertop water flosser, this was a decent pick, being both versatile and effective. It’s a little bulky, and the replacement nozzles are pricey, but this is one of the better options.

Pros

  • Effective
  • Easy to maneuver
  • Variety of nozzle tips
  • Nise variety of modes and intensities
  • Cordless & convenient; no trailing hoses!

Cons

  • 25 minute battery life is low
  • Bulky design
  • Costly replacement nozzles

Watch my video review of Philips Sonicare Cordless Power Flosser

What is a cordless power flosser and what can I do?

If you’ve ever heard the term Water Pik, you’ll be familiar with a water flosser. While WaterPik is a brand name, like Kleenex or Jello, the concept for the device is widely available. A power flosser uses jets of water to get into the narrow areas between your teeth. It’s designed to loosen debris that your toothbrush can’t reach and two remove plaque on the tooth surface all in hopes of reducing tooth decay and keeping your gums healthy. Recommended usage is once per day.

While many water flossing devices have a large tank which sits on your bathroom counter and has a hose connected to the flossing tip, this unit is completely self-contained. While it is extremely chunky, it’s actually pretty easy to maneuver and well-balanced in weight so that is actually quite easy to use even when full.

Philips Sonicare Cordless Power Flosser: What’s in the box?

Philips Power Flosser reviewThe package is pretty paired down; you’ll get the large power flosser device which is made up of two parts; there’s a handle with all the buttons and controls, and a clear plastic water tank on the bottom. Also included in my kit or two different flossing nozzles; The F1 standard nozzle, as well as the F3 quad stream nozzle.

Set up and preparation

Getting ready to use Philips sonicare cordless power flosser is simple than you think . You’ll want to plug it in and give it a full charge before you use it. A small USB see charging port is located in the top of the handle.

With a fully charged device you’re ready to get flossing.

Fill the water reservoir with lukewarm water. It detaches and reattaches from the handle with a simple twist.

Philips Power Flosser reviewNext you’ll want to choose your nozzle and insert it into the top of the device. This isn’t the most intuitive part of the job, and you may need to loosen the collar on top of the flosser to get your nozzle in properly. You’re going for a distinct clicking sound. It took me a couple of tries but once I understood what to do it was easy from there on.

How to use a water flosser

Phillips recommends that you do a quick test before using your device by aiming the nozzle tip into your sink and turning the device on.

There are a couple of ways to actually use the water flosser. Phillips’ user manual recommends you place the nozzle tip in your mouth then lean over the sink and partially close your lips over the nozzle tip to avoid splashing. With this method you’ll want to leave enough space to allow water to flow from your mouth into the sink. Then turn the flosser on and position the nozzle tip just above the gumline at a 90° angle. You’ll essentially draw a line around your mouth from jaw to jaw doing both the inside and back of your teeth as well as the front.

I actually found Philips sonicare cordless power flosser 3000 a little less messy to close my mouth all together and do a few teeth at a time until my mouth was full of water, then spit the water into the sink and continue on.

The nozzle tip can be turned to different angles so it can reach both the backside and front side of your teeth more easily. You can also use your flossers to clean orthodontics and retainers.

My experience with Philips Sonicare Cordless Power Flosser

Since this is my first time ever using a device like this, I don’t really have anything to compare it to. I can say that this model was really easy to use, and seem to hold enough water for me to do my whole mouth on a single tank. The jets of water are not painful or stinging; it’s more of a gentle swirling. Even though there are different intensities, I didn’t feel that any of them was too much.

As I noted earlier, I wasn’t a fan of the brand-recommended method of leaning over the sink with your mouth open to floss. I just found it a bit too messy. Overall I think it did an extremely good job at getting all the junk my toothbrush tends to mess, and the proof of this was when I spit water into the sink each time; even though I had already brushed my teeth, the water floss or was still finding bits to clean away.

Modes and intensities

My Philips sonicare-power flosser 3000 cordless brush has three different intensity settings; essentially low medium and high. There’s actually a decent amount of difference between these settings, with the low setting being extremely gentle well the highest setting actually feels like it’s doing more cleaning. After testing out each of the levels I found I preferred the highest intensity setting.

There are two different cleaning modes; there is clean and deep clean. You can easily switch between them by pressing the mode button on the handle.

Clean mode essentially uses a single stream of water, while deep clean alternates regular intensity with a stronger pulse of water. While the pulsesations are more noticeable, this might just be a personal preference thing, but I found the high-low pulsations did seem like they were perhaps more helpful at dislodging any stubborn bits.

Power and battery life

Phillips says this device is designed to give you about 25 uses per charge; with each session lasting about one minute or so. There is a battery indicator on the bottom of the handle that will show a simple light when you activate the handle; if it’s solid green; it’s full. Flashing green means the battery level is about half, and if the light is flashing amber it’s time to recharge. The charging time isn’t disclosed in the manual, but when mine was running low I would just plug it in before bed and it was recharged by morning.

Cleaning and maintenance

Philips Power Flosser reviewPhillips recommends you clean your Philips sonicare power flosser 3000 cordless about once a week by cleaning the water reservoir either in the dishwasher or in mild soap and water. The handle can be wiped clean with a soft cloth and mild soap. You can rinse the nozzles under warm water and soak them in a vinegar solution if they need a little extra cleaning. To more thoroughly clean the inside of your flosser, running another vinegar water solution inside the tank will help you keep everything working smoothly.

One neat little extra feature is that you can actually store an extra flossing nozzle inside the water reservoir by inserting the bottom of the nozzle into the bottom of the power flosser.

You can use mouthwash mixed with water in the reservoir also but just make sure to give it a throat rinse afterwards. Phillips recommends you replace your flossing nozzles every six months, same as a toothbrush. Replacement nozzles cost a whopping $25 each, which I think is probably the biggest downside to this device. They also seemed a bit hard to find.

A couple of other frequently asked questions about this device? You can use it to clean orthodontics and presumably some thing like dentures too.

Overall review: Philips Sonicare Cordless Power Flosser

Overall, I was kind of surprised that I liked this device and found it both useful and effective. Philips Sonicare Cordless Power Flosser’s cordless operation makes it really easy to use without having to worry about cords and tubing getting tangled. The weight and balance of the device makes it easy to maneuver, and a variety of different tips let you get the most comfortable experience for you. I like the options for different cleaning modes and intensities and found there is probably a setting that would suit everyone from kids to seniors.

Any downsides? During my testing I didn’t really find any major red flags to be honest. I suppose we could complain that 25 minutes of battery on a single charge is not very much; but considering that’s almost a full month of use, it actually seems pretty reasonable. The other grape might just be that the handle and water tank are kind of bulky, but compared to some other countertop models I’ve seen, this actually seems like a relatively compact solution. The biggest downside of this device for me is the extremely pricey replacement nozzles. At about 25 bucks a pop or $50 for a two pack, the cost for this will quickly outstrip the original price you pay for the device.

Even so, I’m a new fan of the Philips Sonicare Cordless Power Flosser and I think you will be too.

It sells for about $79US/CAD and you can get it from places like Amazon, Best Buy, and Walmart

Particularly if you have tooth or gum issues, or your an aggressive brusher, choosing a gentler and more effective sonic electric toothbrush can really improve your smile. The usmile Y10 PRO smart toothbrush recently arrived at my door for testing and review.

Summary

Overall I’ve been enjoying my usmile experience. The brush is nicely designed, easy to hold, and extremely easy to use. It doesn’t complicate matters with the need for a smart phone app; it shows you all the information you need to brush properly right on the tiny digital screen.

Pros

  • Compact
  • Easy to use
  • Cool digital screen
  • 4 brushing modes
  • Smart mode works very well
  • Adapts to your teeth
  • 2 brush heads included
  • Very affordable
  • Pressure indicator

Cons

  • We seriously don’t have any!

In this usmile Y10 pro toothbrush review I’ll show you what makes it special, what its features are and what it’s like to use as well as if I think I could recommend it for you, and I’d like to say a big thanks to usmile for sponsoring this post. Well they are paying for my time, they have not told me what I have to say or what I can’t say about this toothbrush, and I got to test it out exactly how I wanted to, so you can consider these thoughts my own.

What’s in the box?

Unpacking the toothbrush it comes with all the necessities as well as a handy convenience; two brush heads, making this about a six month’s supply of brushing, if you change the heads every three months.

Usmile smart toothbrush reviewNot only that, usmile Y10 pro claims that the brush can get over six months of use on a single charge from a standard USB-C plug, making this brush not just smart, but also extremely trouble free and ideal for frequent travelers.

On the front of the toothbrush you can see one of the key differentiators; a two-part colour LED information screen. This type of technology is usually only available on brushes costing hundreds of dollars, so it is nice to see it here. We’ll get into what it tells you in a couple of moments.

usmile is a popular brand overseas, but is relatively new to North America, so I was keen to try out their technology, since I have reviewed most smart and sonic toothbrushes that have been released in the last 10 years. The important thing to note about smart toothbrushes is they can be extremely expensive. usmile Y10 PRO offers almost all the technology of other brands, but at a much more affordable price, ringing in at just $109 US.

Set up

Aside from choosing your language, it’s ready to rock out of the box. The toothbrush arrives fully charged right from the factory which is a nice touch that I truly appreciate since it means I can use it right away.
There are two buttons on the front below the digital screen; there is the power button which is the black button in the center, and the function button which is below that. The power button is your main on off switch, while the function button can switch between modes, or change your language .

A handy removable sticker on the side helps you know exactly what you’re seeing.

Special features

Four Brushing Modes

Usmile smart toothbrush review usmile Y10 Pro smart has four different brushing modes, and there’s a little more to offer than low medium and high; there’s Smart Mode which adapts to different tooth surfaces using intelligent cleaning solutions—essentially with this you’re letting the brush decide what mode is best for you. Then there’s Clean Mode which uses more moderate/medium pressure and is suitable for daily use. White Mode will clean and polish teeth with stronger pressure, and is meant for those days you need a deep cleaning or some extra whitening. Finally Soft Mode gently cleans the teeth with lighter pressure and vibrations making it ideal for those with sensitive teeth or gums, or for first time users to get used to the sonic vibrations.

Each of the modes will be displayed on the digital screen when you choose it so you know exactly which one you’re using.

Brushing Pressure

A really neat feature I found about usmile y10 pro is the brushing pressure light. If you’re pushing too hard while brushing your teeth the pressure indicator light on the back of the toothbrush will turn red reminding you to use gentler pressure. As someone who’s dentist is constantly lecturing her about being an aggressive brusher, this is a handy tool to have. Even more so with the light on the back of the brush so I can see it clearly in the mirror while I have the toothbrush in my mouth.

Brushing timer

Dentists recommend you brush for two minutes twice per day. The truth is most of us never make it that far, even though we think we do. The built-in two minute timer will keep you honest, and the brush will also display a countdown clock on the handle so you can check in anytime.

Usmile smart toothbrush reviewThe brush also has what’s known as a quad pacer, where it will pause briefly every 30 seconds which is your cue to move to a different quadrant of your mouth. This ensures you’re brushing each part of your mouth evenly.

Adaptive Brushing Optimization

usmile’s electric toothbrush has what’s called automatic optimization technology. usmile says this means it learns and adapts to my brushing styles, resulting in an impressive 44% enhancement in cleaning effectiveness.

My brushing experience

One of the source spots of a powerful electric toothbrush can be that it’s almost head numbing to use at full power. The vibrations can be pretty intense and some, me included, find this incredibly uncomfortable.

That’s one of the reasons usmile’s toothbrush appealed to me, since the company says the brush is made with both shock absorption and an air cushion brush head. I definitely found it a lot less intense, yet at the same time the brushing felt extremely effective and my teeth seemed very clean after the requisite two minutes. Plus, the pressure indicator helps to avoid overpressing, and the intelligent pressure control adjusts
frequency and intensity in real time.

At the end of each brushing session you’ll get a report on how you did, right on the small screen. It will tell you you’ve done a good job or that you could use some improvement as well as displaying statistics about your brushing time. Because you’re getting the information right to the palm of your hand, there is no app or smart phone connectivity needed.

At a glance, here’s what it will tell you:

Timer:
The large colored screen includes a timer to calculate brushing time automatically.

Feedback on Missed Areas:
You get a tooth map after brushing, helping prevent missed spots.

24/7 Plaque Tracking:
TheY10 Pro estimates plaque growth after each brushing, and may prompt you to brush again.

usmile Y10 Pro is also waterproof (IPX8 rated) if you prefer like my husband does to brush in the shower. usmile also says the more smooth vibration and lower intensity design should reduce toothpaste mess, water and splatters during brushing.

I tried out each of the modes and particularly liked the Responsive Brushing option from the Smart Mode. You can actually hear the sound change as the brush adapts when you’re brushing different surfaces, like the front of the teeth or the tops of molars.

Battery life and charging

Usmile smart toothbrush review

usmile y10 pro smart says the toothbrush is meant to have a six month battery life, even if you brush for the full recommended two minutes per day, twice a day. I’ve only been using the brush for about two weeks, so I won’t be able to verify that just yet and will have to take usmile’s word for this for now.

When recharging time does come around, a low battery indicator will display on the front of the brush on the LED screen. Total charging time should be about 4 to 5 hours.

Brush reminder

One of the other things I liked a lot about this brush is the softness of the bristles. usmile says they are made with 90% minimum roundness for better gum protection. I found it extremely comfortable to use. Plus, I like that the bristles will fade over the course of six months as a visual reminder to replace the brush head.

Overall review: usmile Y10 smart toothbrush

Overall I’ve been enjoying my usmile experience. The brush is nicely designed, easy to hold, and extremely easy to use. It doesn’t complicate matters with the need for a smart phone app; it shows you all the information you need to brush properly right on the tiny digital screen. The pressure indicator on the back is genius and makes it ultra easy to see when you might be brushing too hard. Plus with a six month battery life and USB-C charging, it’s a travelers dream.

Usmile smart toothbrush reviewI also appreciate the smart brushing mode and enjoyed letting the Y 10 pro do the work for me. But having other modes will make this brush ideal for plenty of users. Plus, with more measured intensity and absolutely no head rattling vibrations, overall the brushing experience is really great.

When it comes to the downsides, I’m really having a hard time finding any.

The fact the usmile Y10 PRO is as affordable as it is, is just the cherry on an already excellent sundae.

Does the FOREO PEACH 2 measure up?

Many people have decided to ditch razors and waxing for various hair removal devices that work quickly and don’t cause pain or leave markings on their skin. One of the latest devices to hit the market is FOREO’s PEACH 2 hair removal device. The company deems this device fast, simple, and effective. Read our Foreo peach 2 review .

Let’s start,

What is it and how does it work?

FOREO says the PEACH 2 offers more power and better intense pulsed light (IPL) technology than the first generation of the device (and other devices on the market). In addition, it is manufactured with its own skin cooling system to prevent pain and discomfort during treatment. The device is able to deliver an impressive 120 flashes each minute and can reportedly deliver up to 500,000 flashes.

The PEACH 2 Foreo is made with a 9-square centimeter “treatment window,” which is quite a bit larger than its competitors. Made of silicone, the flexible head on the device ensures users are able to reach all areas of the body they want to remove hair from – including curvatures.

What is IPL hair removal and is it safe?

In general, IPL can be used for a wide variety of skin treatments and conditions including the reduction of age spots, wrinkles, and varicose veins. It has also become quite popular for hair removal in the last several years. It is marketed as a non-invasive and safe way to remove hair and prevent it from growing back as quickly as it does using other hair removal mechanisms such as razors and wax. IPL can be used in many areas of the body including the face and underarms.

When used correctly and as per the instructions, Foreo peach 2 advance IPL hair removal device is safe and effective. These hair removal devices also typically do not require any sort of care after usage. Any device of this sort comes with a warning of side effects like burning, bruising, and blistering, but following the instructions properly will generally prevent these issues.

IPL vs. Laser Treatment

Both IPL and laser treatments work to reach the melanin in hair follicles and get rid of the hair, but there are some differences. IPL therapy is similar to laser therapies but it projects multiple wavelengths of light at the skin instead of just one wavelength. It is also able to reach the dermis (second layer of skin) without damaging the epidermis (top layer of skin). In addition, IPL utilizes a broadband pulsed light instead of a monochromatic light source like laser technology.

Why are there T-Sonic pulsations in the PEACH 2?

FOREO peach 2 is well-known for using T-Sonic pulsations, which is short for Transdermal-Sonic pulsations. Simply put, these pulsations are able to pass through outer layers of skin and “channel a low frequency massage to help relax facial and neck muscle tension points, and improve blood flow.” Also, these pulsations are able to dilate pores (just temporarily!), which allows the light to pass through without causing clogged pores. Possible benefits of this technology include the reduction of wrinkles, dark circles, and puffiness as well as the relaxation of tension points and an overall improvement to the skin.

What areas of the body can you use the PEACH 2 on?

When first introduced to the market, many at-home hair removal devices had warnings against using them on certain areas of the body, but newer devices like the PEACH 2 Foreo can be used on even some of the most sensitive areas including the face, underarm, and bikini area. Of course, it can also be used on the arms, legs, and other extremities where users have unwanted hair.

What are the steps to use the Foreo PEACH 2?

Before using the Foreo PEACH 2 advance IPL hair removal device, it is important to cover up any birthmarks, tattoos, or moles. If you prefer, you can wear sunglasses during the process, but they are not required.

First, users should shave and clean the area(s) that the PEACH 2 will be used on. Dermaplaning facial hair while shaving the rest of the body as needed is recommended. The skin should be cleaned and then dried. Before grabbing the device, users also need to massage the FOREO PEACH Cooling Prep Gel very well into their skin.

Once the skin is prepped, the intensity needs to be selected on the device. There are five intensity levels ranging from 1 (least intense) to 5 (most intense). It is recommended to start at a lower intensity and gradually increase it as long as there is no discomfort. The treatment window should then be placed directly and firmly onto the treatment area(s). For smaller areas such as the bikini area, the flash button should be pressed once quickly (deemed the “stamp mode”). For larger areas, the flash button should be held firmly as the device is moved around the skin (known as the “glide mode”).

Experienced users can generally complete a full body treatment in around ten minutes.

How often should I use the PEACH 2?

Everyone’s hair growth is different, so it is impossible to know how often someone should use the Foreo PEACH 2 hair removal device. However, based on average hair growth and general phases of it, the device should be used at least every two weeks for at least twelve weeks.
