When traveling, you need reliable power to charge your phone, or camera or to use your hair dryer, flat iron or razor. If you’re traveling far from home, you may need an adapter or transformer to match up to another country’s power standards. One way to do that is to pack adapters or power plugs that can, well, adapt to your needs as you visit different countries. Skross makes several power plugs and adapters that I was able to test out on a recent trip to Europe.

Power adapters for Europe

skross power adapter transformer europe world asia travelTake my word for it; you’re going to need more power than you think. When you travel, you’ll need adapters for all your gear; one for each family member’s phone (because realistically, trading charging spaces is a pain), one for the camera battery, one for your bathroom appliances, iPad, laptop… the list goes on.

Make sure you have enough adapter space to juice up what you need.

Skross Pro World & USB

This adapter was my favourite while on the road in Europe for its versatility.

The compact 3-pole travel plug with an integrated USB charger works in over 220 countries. It works to connect even powerful devices like my MackBook Pro and my flat iron.

The adapter splits into two parts so you don’t need to use the giant plug if you don’t need to; it kinda keeps the Europe plug seperate from the rest of the world adapters. Handy!

While the adapter provides the correct connection for your laptop, the USB charger module can top up the battery on your smartphone or your tablet.

This adapter was another handy choice. It has sliding levels to quickly and easily swap to the plug you need wherever you are.

You can use it by plugging your devices in to the back, or using the dual USB adapters instead. And it has enough power to charge devices in those two USB outlets at the same time as something is plugged into the back.

Euro USB Charger – 4-Port

This adapter is super smart (pictured below, top right). Built mainly for Europe (it works in 160 countries), it has 4 integrated USB ports including a high speed USB port to keep things like smartphones, e-readers and tablets ready.

There was no charging one device then waiting to charge the next in line. The compact size of the plug was good too, even though it doesn’t have a retractable plug end.

Technical Specifications

  • Suitable in all countries with Euro-plug-standard (more than 160 countries worldwide)
  • 4 USB ports for simultaneous powerful charging
  • Input: 100 V – 240 V ~ 50/60 Hz 500 mA (max.)
  • Output 1: 5 V / 1 A max. – 5 V / 4.8 A max

Overall review of Skross travel adapters

Overall we were pretty pleased with all the adapters we got from Skross. They were compact, light weight, and worked like a dream to keep all my tech blogger gear at the ready. There’s no set up involved, and they seemed to work well with everything from hair tools to smartphones and my laptop. (Caveat: Apple’s Macbooks usually have a built in transformer that will adapt voltage, so we didn’t worry when we used out Macbook plugs with these adapters)

If you’re looking for compact and versatile travel adapters, pick up these from Skross via their website or from Amazon (Skross Pro World & USB, Skross World Adapter MUV USB, Euro USB Charger – 4-Port)
