What do you get with HP Deskjet 8025e?

In a nutshell, HP would probably tell you the OfficeJet pro 8025e is the Swiss Army Knife of the printing world. Need to print a document? No problem. Scan a photo? Easy peasy. And if you’re feeling nostalgic, you can even send a fax (just don’t tell your millennial friends). But this printer isn’t just a blast from the past, it’s got all the modern features you could want, including automatic two-sided printing and wireless connectivity.

Size & design

If you need a simple at-home printer, this one is a bit on the larger size, but for those with more home office aspirations it’s a decent size. It measures about 18-inches wide, 13 deep and 9-inches high.

Conveniently it has a mostly all in one footprint, in that the document feeder is on top of the printer and the paper tray and catchtray for the most part live underneath. There is an optional pull out extension for the catch tray which you can use if you have the space.

When it comes to the looks, this is actually a nice looking printer. With it’s gray, charcoal, and white design it’s fairly minimalist and shouldn’t distract too much from your office décor.

What does HP DeskJet 8025e printer do?

The HP OfficeJet Pro 8025e wireless printer is a versatile machine that can help you tackle a variety of tasks. Here’s a breakdown of its standout features:

Print

Printing documents and photos is easy, whether from my laptop or phone. Once you complete the initial set up for each device, anytime you tap print you should get the option to print to the 8025e wireless printer.

Scan

If you want to scan a document or a photo and send it digitally, you can use the feeder tray to scan in multi-page documents, or just use the flatbed scanner for a single page or awkwardly shared items. You can scan directly to email, the cloud, or your computer with just a few clicks, and you can and save a digital copy of your documents and photos in the format of your choice – JPEG, PDF, and more.

When it came to my printing I actually had a very good experience. I needed a hard copy of a contract to have signed and witnessed. So I was easily able to print the contract and sign it myself. Next I was able to use the scan feature to scan the signed document back into my computer and send it off to the recipient.

Copy

If you just need a simple duplicate making copies is quite straightforward and works a lot like scanning. Just set the document you want to copy into the feeder tray and choose the copy option from the menu on the touchscreen. The printer will instantly spit out another paper copy.

Adjust settings such as color, size, and quantity directly from your smartphone or tablet.

How to Print Photos with HP 8025e

The HP 8025E wireless printer is also a fairly adept photo printer. This means you can print photos from your computer or phone quite easily. When printing photos you do need the HP Smart app, which will help you make paper choices more easily.

HP DeskJet 8025 printer review You can print directly from the Photos app on your iphone for example, but the 8025e doesn’t make it easy. Unlike some other printers it won’t recognize when you’ve switched up the paper; you have to tell it what the paper size is. When you load your new paper, such as photo paper, the printer will ask you if you’d like to modify the paper size in settings. By choosing modify you can select the size of paper you’re using. Then return to your photos app to initiate the print sequence.

The photo quality is quite good, very vibrant and colorful, and the photos print reasonably quickly on this printer, timing out at about 45 seconds for a 4 x 6 print.

How to Scan Multi-Page Documents with Feeder Tray

The feeder tray makes it easy to scan multi-page documents quickly and efficiently, and the printer will send them to your phone or laptop either via email or using a wireless connection.

The feeder tray can hold up to 35 pages, making it ideal for larger documents like reports or contracts. Once you’ve scanned your documents, you can save them in a variety of file formats, including PDF, JPEG, and more.

HP DeskJet 8025 printer review You can also send the scanned documents directly to email, the cloud, or your computer for easy storage and sharing.

  • Open the feeder tray and place your document face up, with the top of the document pointing into the tray. Adjust the paper guides so they fit snugly against the sides of the document.
  • With the feeder tray, you can easily scan multi-page documents without having to manually load each page.
  • Open the feeder tray and place your documents face up, with the top of the document pointing into the tray. Adjust the paper guides so they fit snugly against the sides of the document, and the HP OfficeJet Pro 8025e will automatically scan each page in order.

Print speed

The HP OfficeJet Pro 8025e offers fast, good quality, and reliable printing, with the ability to print up to 20 pages per minute in black and 10 pages per minute in color. That’s pretty quick, and matches up with what I experienced in my testing.

One and 2-sided printing

The HP OfficeJet Pro 8025e wireless printer offers both one-sided and two-sided printing options, also known as duplex printing. With one-sided printing, you can quickly print out documents and photos with ease. However, two-sided printing is a great option for those of you who want to save paper and reduce your environmental impact.

HP DeskJet 8025 printer reviewIn addition, two-sided printing can also make your documents look more professional. For instance, if you’re creating a brochure or booklet, two-sided printing allows you to create a seamless, double-sided design without having to manually flip each page.

I really appreciated the two-sided printing, because every now and then I like to have a hard copy of a newsletter I read. Opting for two-sided printing means I can still have it handy for quick reference but I only need half the amount of paper.

Ink price

These days it seems the printer itself is the most affordable part of owning one. Ink cartridges can really add up. While this printer comes with the initial cartridges, a replacement set of colour cartridges cost about $35. Depending on how much you print this will obviously affect your annual cost. HP also offers its instant ink program which will automatically ship new cartridges just before you run out of ink so you’ll always have a full supply. The rates vary based on how much you print, but I have been enrolled in this program for several years and I find it to be quite cost-effective and extremely handy.

Overall review: HP OfficeJet Pro 8025e

Overall this printer is impressively capable. It handles every home office task I would want it too. The print speed is good, the quality is exactly what I’m looking for, and it doesn’t take up too much space in my office. I love that it will print one or two sided pages and that it has a document feeder for scanning larger files. When it comes to the downsides, I’m really struggling with finding some things that I really did not care for. I suppose some users might find the footprint a little larger than they would like to accommodate. Even the price is quite reasonable for all of the productivity you’ll get from this printer.

It sells for about $225US and you can get it as I did from Amazon.

In short I can definitely recommend the HP OfficeJet pro 8025 to you for your home office printing needs.

I have had this printer for a year and a half and it is not good. Has never worked smoothly, ink dries out if you don’t use it often, often says it does not recognize ink cartridges, scanner won’t work if the ink is out, and now it won’t turn on at all. Look elsewhere. I just b ought a different brand.

That’s disappointing, John. Which brand did you buy instead?
