Whether it’s the bus, train or even Uber, sometimes commuting can be a pain. You need to be well armed when you head out for the day; all your papers and gear, your technology and devices, and maybe even lunch thrown in for good measure. Having the right accessories —and the best way to carry them — can make your daily commute easier.
I recently had a chance to partner with well known accessory company Targus to share some new gear picks with readers. They’ve sponsored this post, but let me pick out some of my favourites.
Carry all your gear easily – Mobile ViP backpack
A basic black backpack should be sleek and professional, and trust me when I say they’re hard to find. Most backpacks with the proper protection for your delicate electronics look like you’re heading to the gym. Not this one.
Targus’ Mobile ViP backpack is a minimalist and chic backpack that has plenty of space for your stuff. A SafePort Sling inside a section of the pack keeps your laptop (up to 15.6″) from hitting the floor even if you set the bag down hard. The pack also has a TSA-approved checkpoint-friendly design which allows you to open the bag flat for a clear X-ray scan. In many U.S. airports this means you can leave the laptop in the bag, which is safer and more secure.
The Mobile ViP backpack also has plenty of pockets and roomy compartments with smooth easy-grasp zippers to store all your stuff while keeping it organized. A trolley strap lets you loop the bag easily over your suitcase handle for the ultimate in portability; that means quick getaways off the train or plane and no fumbling with your bags.
It’s the chameleon carry-all for commuters
The Mobile ViP backpack also has a tablet compartment, file organizer, and plenty of zippered pockets including a collapsible side strap pocket that’s perfect for umbrellas or water bottles. A convertible compartment inside can be walled off with sturdy velcro dividers or peeled open for larger items. This bag is so versatile it’s practically a chameleon.
The Mobile ViP can stand up on its own too, meaning it won’t get dirty, or dump your stuff.
Sturdy straps distribute weight evenly to keep the strain off your back and shoulders.
One of the things I like best about this backpack is that it doesn’t look like it’s meant for the gym. Instead, the minimalist two tone black leatherette and canvas-style fabric that looks tidy and professional. It’s also weather resistant and has a breathable back so you won’t get sweaty.
CES award winner for smart design
Targus Mobile ViP backpack was named a CES Innovation Awards Honoree in the Computer Accessories category in 2017. CES Innovation Awards are given to new consumer technology products that enable, enhance, and connect or that have innovation in design, engineering, and user value. This backpack is definitely worthy of this praise.

Presentation Saver – Targus VersaLink Universal Dual Video Travel Dock (DOCK110)
Have you ever arrived to give a presentation or a keynote only to find the connectors you need for your laptop don’t exist. Cue the panic.
It’s safer to bring your own hookups, starting with this versatile video dock. With the Versalink Universal Dock Video Travel Dock (Dock 110), you can connect directly to projectors whether they use HDMI, VGA, video or ethernet cables. This small, compact dock weighs nearly nothing so you can slip it into your ViP backpack and keep it handy for emergencies. You can also use it to connect desktop monitors to your laptop for the big screen experience.
Compatible with Windows, Apple devices and Android, the Dock 110’s got everything you need to connect to projectors or monitors easily. The dock is also USB 3.0 (differentiated by its blue microchip inside the connector) for faster transfer speeds.
