molekule, air purifier, allergies, breathing, clean, review, coupon, promo, code, Like a lot of you out there, I’ve been thinking about air quality. Whether it’s been allergies, COVID-19, wildfire smoke or pollution, there are plenty of things that might be affecting how you breathe. I’ve been looking into air purifiers, and I was recently offered the opportunity to try Molekule, and I’d like to thank Molekule for sponsoring this post. Their support helps me keep the blog and the YouTube channel running, so for that I’m grateful.

Molekule Air Mini + purifier review

Molekule makes both large and small purifiers and in this post, I’m going to look at the Molekule Air Mini+, what it can do, how it works and what the benefits of the device are, as well as whether I feel like it helped me.

What is Molekule Air Mini+?

Molekule is a new kind of air purifier, and the company says it works differently than other air purifiers. Unlike traditional models that collect pollutants on a filter and leave them there, Molekule captures and then destroys a wide range of pollutants.

What will Molekule do?

molekule, air purifier, allergies, breathing, clean, review, coupon, promo, code, Molekule destroys the widest range of pollutants compared to traditional air purifiers and is the only air purifier to use PECO technology to safely destroy pollutants. It utilizes photocatalysis to speed up oxidation, breaking down pollutants at a molecular level, including VOCs, bacteria, mold, viruses, and allergens, leaving truly clean air.

Molekule’s proprietary technology is called PECO, or Photo Electrochemical Oxidation. The PECO-Filter has a special coating that is activated by light inside the device, creating a chemical reaction on the surface of the filter, destroying pollutants by breaking down their molecular structure.

Design and form factor of Molekule Air Mini +

I’ve reviewed several air purifiers and a lot of them look very utilitarian. The design of Molekule though is sleek, minimalist and streamlined. I think it’s really attractive and would fit into even the most modern home and not scream out ‘air purifier’. In fact, it looks a lot more like a really chic wireless speaker than an air purifier and I know that’s a huge plus for a lot of folks. You can hide it in plain sight, so to speak.

Which Molekule to choose?

Wondering if the smaller Air Mini, Air Mini+ or the bigger Air are right for you? The larger size Air will purify up to 600 square feet so it’s great for larger spaces, while the smaller Minis can handle rooms up to 250 square feet.

Setting up Molekule Air Mini+ device

Getting the Molekule set up is simple:

  • Download the Molekule app and sign up for or sign into your account.
  • Place your device on a bench or table and away from walls for ideal air flow.
  • Twist the outer shell counterclockwise to pull it off.
  • Your filter is inside wrapped in plastic. Unwrap it, place it with the small hole down, then replace the shell.
  • Plug it in and it will come on right away. You can tap the touch controls on top to adjust the fan speeds.
  • Go to your app and it should see your device and it will prompt you to connect to Wi-Fi.

Your Molekule starts working immediately to clean the air in the room; there’s no waiting for it to get to work.

Using the Molekule app

The app gives you remote access to monitoring your air. You can keep an eye on air quality and filter status, sign up for filter subscriptions or manage multiple devices. You can control Molekule by simply touching the power button on the top of the device and you can also use Auto Protect Mode.

What is Molekule Auto Protect Mode?

Auto Protect Mode is a setting on your Molekule that allows you to let the machine sense air particles and respond to them. The sensor in Air Mini+ is designed to detect particles in the air and when it does, Air Mini+ will automatically adjust your fan speed to deal with them. You’ll see four different colors on the device, and through the app, to indicate the levels of particles. Green means there’s a low level of particles in the air, yellow is moderate, red is bad, and purple means there may be a very unhealthy concentration of particles in the air.

Is Molekule Noisy?

On its website, Molekule promises the machines are ‘whisper quiet and made for even the lightest snoozers. I can say it is definitely quiet enough to sleep through on most of its lower settings and doesn’t disturb us even if we’re sitting next to it.

Does Molekule offer a fan for cooling?

Unlike some other hybrid devices, Molekule isn’t also a fan, but you do get some air movement around the device.

It’s hard to tell, without opening my own microbiology lab, how well the device is working, so I can only tell you anecdotally about our experience. My husband has bad allergies, we have two dogs and Alberta is prone to smoky air from wildfires in the summer so we always have a purifier running, particularly in the bedroom at night.

Molekule has run lab tests that show its devices remove airborne viruses and pollutants, and the results are on its website. It’s quite comforting to think that something running quietly in the background of your home can help improve your overall air quality.

Do you have to change the filter in Molekule?

The Molekule Air Mini+ has a replaceable filter inside. Molekule even has a subscription you can sign up for, where your new filters will arrive automatically. One filter refill pack costs $99 for a year’s supply and should be changed every 6 months. I’d say that’s about average for air purifier filter costs when you compare it to others out there.

There’s a lot to like about Molekule; the design is chic and attractive, it’s easy to set up and use, it runs silently, and most importantly you know it’s not just cleaning and purifying the air; it’s destroying many of the things that shouldn’t be floating around your home.

I enjoyed my Molekule experience very much and as a Molekule Enthusiast I can recommend it for people looking to destroy allergens, or anyone concerned with air quality — and while we’re all home together, shouldn’t we all enjoy purer air?

If you’re still not sure, and it turns out you don’t love yours, you can return it within 30 days for a refund—including shipping.
